Andrew Kosciesza

Andrew Kosciesza is Assistant Professor of Music and the Coordinator of the music department at Montgomery County Community College.

He did his undergraduate work at Washington College, Marlboro College, and the Juilliard School. He holds a Masters in Music from Temple University and a PhD (ABD) from Rutgers University.

His specialty is Historical Musicology with an emphasis on music of the Renaissance and Baroque. In addition to his historical studies, he is active as a choral conductor and performs as both a tenor and counter-tenor. He has performed at the Kimmel Center with Vox Ama Deus; at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center with the Dessoff Choirs, and with many ensembles in Maryland, Vermont, and Massachusetts.

At MCCC "Professor K" (as his students like to call him) is in charge of all music department activities, including the Performing Arts Showcase which happens at the end of each semester.

Perhaps his most visible role in the department is as the conductor of the College Choir. The choir performs frequently throughout the year, both on and off campus. Past seasons have included performances at Laurel Hill Mansion and an outdoors event on the Ben Franklin Parkway in center city Philadelphia, and at the Franklinville school in Montgomery County.
