Montgomery County Community College will hold the first spring semester installment of its West Campus Speaker Series, featuring author Lucinda Fleeson, on Wednesday, Feb. 3 from 12:30-1:30 p.m. The presentation will be held in the South Hall Community Room, 101 College Drive, Pottstown. It is free of charge and open to the public.

aking Up in Eden: In Pursuit of an Impassioned Life on an Imperiled Island. The book tells Fleenson’s story about leaving Philadelphia, where she was a reporter for the Inquirer, to work in a tropical botanic garden in Kauai, Hawaii. According to her website,
Waking Up in Eden “is a book for armchair travelers, modern-day romantics, gardeners, green activists, and everyone interested in a true adventure story about following one’s heart.”
Fleeson currently serves as the director of a program for international journalists at the University of Maryland College of Journalism, and she teaches writing and reporting.
