Montgomery County Community College is offering an array of camp experiences for children and teens, ages 6-17, this summer at its Central Campus, 340 DeKalb Pike, Blue Bell. The programs focus on learning, exploration and fun in a relaxed and supportive environment.
The camps include Preschool & Toddler Camps, Summer College Camp, Teen College, Specialty Camps and Athletic Camps. Campers can register for the entire eight-week session or for weekly programs. For dates, registration and costs, parents and participants should refer to the specific information and contacts for each camp.
Preschool & Toddler Camps
The Children’s Center early childhood professionals are offering an enriching, active and carefully supervised camp for children ages 2 to 5 years. Campers will enjoy theme-based outdoor activities, arts and crafts, songs, water play, cooking, nature exploration, computers and more.
Camp sessions run Mon.-Thurs., 9 a.m. to noon. Extended camp hours are available from 7:45 a.m. to 5 p.m., Mon.-Fri., for an additional fee. Session I will be held June 22-July 17, and Session II will be held July 20-Aug. 14. The cost per session is $330 for 3-5 year olds and $360 for 2-3 year olds for each session. A Pre-Camp Session will be held May 19-June 19 for $410 for 3-5 year olds and $450 for 2-3 year olds.

Summer College Camp/Specialty Camps/Teen College
The eight-week Summer College Camp program is comprised of three camps: Freshman Camp for ages 6-7 years; Sophomore Camp, ages 8-10 years; and Senior Camp, ages 11-14. College faculty, as well as certified teachers and professionals, will provide instruction. Families have the flexibility of enrolling for one week or all eight, with full and half-day options.
Freshman Camp is a theme-based academic enrichment program that includes physical activity and learning through discovery classes featuring reading, writing, math skills, science, theater, sports and arts and crafts.
Sophomores and Seniors may select from age-appropriate academic enrichment programs. Topics include writing, math, science, history, vocabulary, spelling, geography, art and computer applications. Sports and fitness are included.
As alternatives to age-specific camps, the College offers Specialty Camps, including 3-D Animation; 3-D Solid Modeling; Aerospace Engineering; Anime for Teens; Build a “Green” House; Building Bridges; Towers & Cranes; Camp Scrubs: Explore Health Careers; Cartooning; Ceramics; Clay Sculpture; Computer Design: Gaming & Animation; Digital Photography; Lego® Mindstorms® Robotics; Jane Austen Book Club; Drawing I and II; Life Drawing; Radio-TV-Video Production; Reiki for Teens; Sewing; Strength Training for Teens; Teen Second Life; Tennis; Theater; and Web Design & Blogging.
Teen College is specifically designed for students ages 15 to 17 years. Teens can select from many different courses, including 3-D Animation; 3-D Solid Modeling; Advanced Computer Design Camp: Gaming & Animation; Anime for Teens; Health Careers; Car Care & Maintenance; Cartooning; Ceramics ; Drawing; Digital Photography; Driver Education; and Jane Austen Book Club.
Summer College Camp will be held June 21- Aug. 13. Weekly tuition for the full-day program from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. is $340. Tuition for the half-day program is $200 per week. Extended care is available with the “Early Risers” program from 7 to 8:15 a.m. and/or the “Extended Hours” program from 4:30 to 6 p.m. for additional fees. Also, Pre-Camp is offered June 14-18 and Post-Camp is offered during the weeks of Aug. 16-20 and 23-27.
Registration for Montgomery County Community College’s Summer College Camp, Specialty Camps and Teen College begins March 1. Parents and students are invited to tour the campus and meet the staff during three open houses scheduled for March 20, April 17 and May 22 from 1 to 3 p.m.

Athletic Camps
Throughout the summer, Montgomery County Community College offers several Athletic Camps, including basketball, baseball, softball and soccer.
The Mustangs Basketball Camp will be held June 21-24 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. for youth ages 7 to 12 years. The program is ideal for both first-time campers and those with more advanced skills. Coaches Denny Surovec and Kelly Donohue will be teaching ball handling, shooting, defensive skills and offensive skills.
Campers can register for individual sessions for $25 each or for all four sessions for $75, which includes a personal evaluation certificate and a camp t-shirt for each participant. Registration deadline is June 11. For more information, contact Kelly Donahue at 215-619-7314 or

The Mustangs Baseball Camp will be held July 6-9 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. for youth ages 8 to 12 years. Under the direction of Head Baseball Coach Lou Lombardo, participants will learn to improve their physical and mental skills with instruction on conditioning, throwing, fielding, bunting, hitting, base running, base stealing, sliding and strategy. All campers will play in an All-Star Showcase Series on the final day of camp. Registration is due by June 28.
The Mustangs Softball Camp will be held July 19-23 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. for girls ages 8 to 12 years. Participants will work on hitting and fielding skills, as well as conditioning, running and game strategy. Registration is due by July 12.

The Mustangs Soccer Camp will be held Aug. 2-6 from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. for youth ages 6 to 12 years. Under the direction of Coaches Andy Kelly and Tim McNally, campers will learn technical and tactical skills, physical conditioning and psychological skills.
